TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
What I do for beginner clients vs. advanced clients
While there can be considerable overlap between a beginner and advanced exercisers depending on their needs, the level at which I set a program always emphasizes health and functionality.
Beginner client programs consist of ensuring core stability, practicing high quality movement patterns, and building up a base of endurance and strength. Full body circuit style workouts allow the most efficient use of time while engaging all muscle groups. For more advanced clients I use split-routines, where each body part(s) are able to receive a larger work volume. Advanced training incorporates a focus on utilizing the body's energy systems to drive performance-based results.
When a client needs functional training in their program
Each workout has elements of movement prep - think of it as preparing your body for the work ahead. Functional training mimics fundamental movement your body needs to be able to do well when performing everyday tasks.
If someone’s movements are irregular or cause issues with muscle imbalance and joint dysfunction, then integrating exercise principles like targeted stretches, controlled movements, and other methods are employed to improve your functional movements.
How my training is motivation and behavior oriented
Working out is inherently uncomfortable. My goal is to show clients that they can build their confidence and achieve their goals with a little extra effort, consistency and discipline that leaves you more fulfilled than just going through the motions.
However, everyone has days where they can’t perform at their best. That's where I help them adapt their workout to meet their capabilities while still being effective. My goal is to show clients they can move better and work hard.
