TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

What I do for beginner clients vs. advanced clients

While there can be considerable overlap between a beginner and advanced exercisers depending on their needs, the level at which I set a program always emphasizes health and functionality.

Beginner client programs consist of ensuring core stability, practicing high quality movement patterns, and building up a base of endurance and strength. Full body circuit style workouts allow the most efficient use of time while engaging all muscle groups. For more advanced clients I use split-routines, where each body part(s) are able to receive a larger work volume. Advanced training incorporates a focus on utilizing the body's energy systems to drive performance-based results.

When a client needs functional training in their program

Each workout has elements of movement prep - think of it as preparing your body for the work ahead. Functional training mimics fundamental movement your body needs to be able to do well when performing everyday tasks.

If someone’s movements are irregular or cause issues with muscle imbalance and joint dysfunction, then integrating exercise principles like targeted stretches, controlled movements, and other methods are employed to improve your functional movements.

How my training is motivation and behavior oriented

Working out is inherently uncomfortable. My goal is to show clients that they can build their confidence and achieve their goals with a little extra effort, consistency and discipline that leaves you more fulfilled than just going through the motions.

However, everyone has days where they can’t perform at their best. That's where I help them adapt their workout to meet their capabilities while still being effective. My goal is to show clients they can move better and work hard.

TESTIMONIALS

Real Experiences, Stunning Results

Megan N.

"Joe is an excellent trainer that I worked with through his small group strength and conditioning class. He was always very prepared for our sessions and clearly put a lot of time and thought into designing the program. The exercises were challenging and unique. And the sessions were not only productive, but a lot of fun. By the end of the program, I was definitely stronger. I built upper body strength and became more confident."

FAQ
  • Where do you train your clients?
I provide training options at a semi-private gym, in client homes, outside areas and virtually, in order to meet clients' needs and comfort level.
  • How often should I work with a trainer?
Most clients meet 2 or 3 times per week in order to learn and proficiently execute their exercise programs at the intensity needed to drive their results.
  • What makes training with you different from other trainers?
I implement multi-faceted training, with training variables that focus on developing real long term results in function, strength, and conditioning while forming/maintaining a practical healthy lifestyle. Additionally, I provide expertise in movement biomechanics that ensure safe exercise at all levels. Whereas big box gym training often provides all clients with the same general routines.
  • Who are your typical clients?
I work with post injury/rehab clients, or clients who have been away from regular exercise needing guidance and accountability to exceed their fitness goals.
